Friends of the Chino Valley Public Library

The Friends of the Buckeye Public Library

Up until four years ago (April 2014) the once thriving group had nearly withered away. But a few passionate library users saw a bright future on the horizon for the library and accepted the call to inspire, engage and be connected. Together they lit a fire that ignited a flood of support; not only in money and donations but volunteering and being present in all aspects of the Library operations. Rather they are helping to run the front desk, setting-up programs, helping out at storytime, facilitating leadership and advocacy meetings that move the library forward, marketing library services, or even flipping 1,200 burgers to raise money for Summer Reading Program, the Friends can be counted on to inspire, engage and connect all who enter the Buckeye Public Library System’s doors. This group that had dwindled to three active volunteers has now grown to 41 since April 2014. They have raised $117,291 and reinvested back into the library $93,895. They have sold 66,744 books and volunteered over 12,000 hours of time. The Buckeye Public Library System can’t imagine a world without them and value the Friends of the Buckeye Public Library bring to our city that is over 600 square miles and is the 5th fastest growing city in the country! The Buckeye Public Library System considers the Friend of the Buckeye Public Library our ‘Volunteers of the Year,’ every year!
